Q: HOW DO WE FUNDRAISE?
A: Each year, parents choose to join the Friends of Potten End Pre-School to arrange fun activities including the summer fair to raise funds for equipment and toys for the benefit of the children.
Parents also register with EasyFundraising to raise money whenever they shop online without costing them a penny extra!
It’s very simple – if you register here, you can then shop with over 2,000 well known retailers like Amazon, Argos, M&S, eBay, John Lewis and leading supermarkets. Whenever you buy something, the retailer makes a donation to Potten End Pre-School Association, and you can even save money with special offers and voucher codes. They’ve helped other causes raise over £2,000,000 so it really does work. Why not register now?
Q: WHO ARE THE FRIENDS?
A: There is a Friends Chair and a team of volunteers made up of parents and carers who arrange the fundraising calendar and organise activities and events throughout the year. The Friends meet separately to the Management Committee although the Friends Chair will also attend the Management Committee meetings to provide updates. All parents are invited and extremely welcome at both Management Committee and Friends meetings. NOTE: The Friends are currently looking for a Co-Chair to help lead and support their fantastic fundraising team!
Q: WHAT ARE THE ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR AND HOW ARE THEY SPENT?
A: School fees just about cover the basic running costs of the school such as staff salaries, utilities and building maintenance, so it falls to the Friends to raise the money for all the toys, equipment and entertainment for the children. Sometimes the money is used for essential costs (e.g. furniture and other equipment) to ensure the Pre-School provides a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for the children. But more often, the Pre-School manager and staff put a wish list together of items they would like to provide for the children’s enjoyment and education through play. The Friends discuss the list together with the management team and decide how the money should be spent. Recent fundraising has been towards the playground and renovation of the main room.
Q: WHAT KIND OF ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS ARE THERE?
A: All our activities and events are fun for whoever is doing the fundraising! Whether that be emptying a tube of Smarties and filling it with spare change, trying their luck at the summer fair tombola or being sponsored to ride a bike around the Pre-School playground, the children will have a great time doing it! And some of the events are for the parents too so don’t forget to come and support us!
Q: WHAT WOULD MY INVOLVEMENT BE?
A: All we need is a bit of your time and input – you’d be surprised by how far it will go. This is an excellent opportunity to have a say in what goes on at the Pre-School, help keep the dedicated level of fundraising going and maintain the high standards of the Pre-School that your children currently enjoy. It is great fun too! NOTE: The Friends are currently looking for a Co-Chair to help lead and support their fantastic fundraising team!
