What’s Going On

at Pre-school?

Welcome back to the new Autumn term and a big welcome to our new children joining us this term.

We are looking forward to a busy half term as we get to know each other and begin to head towards winter. Our new children will need some time to settle in and the older ones to readjust to a change in familiar friends and to form new friendships. As always all of us are here to support them in their next stage.

We will be looking at the changing environment as Summer turns to Autumn and also talking about ourselves, our similarities, our differences and our families however big or small they may be..

We will be doing some cooking activites so please let us know if your child is allergic to anything we may be unaware of, we will let you know in advance of the ingredients being used.

We will be celebratring the Harvest and our local Vicar Penny will be visiting to read us a story. We will talk about Diwali and encourage the children’s understanding of different cultures and faiths.

You may remember at the end of last term that we discussed the children who have chosen to stay here for their education prior to moving onto reception These children will be seen wearing black T shirts and sweatshirts to help them understand that they are moving up to Upper Pre School and for the other children to recognise that they are older group. They will also be given a book bag and have a regular library book. Katy is now leader of Upper Pre School and will be planning for these children.

The new sweatshirts will be £8 and t shirts £4 and will be available during the term. As always the red ones are available and remain at the same price.

We will be looking at number 1 and 2  and red and brown, the letter S and circle and triangle.

Our Upper Pre School children will be looking at phase 1 of letters and sounds and focusing on our listening skills using lots of different different activites and fun games. Their mathematics focus will be matching quantity to number.

Please remember to look at your home/school book and return it back in the red box when you have commented in it.

Harry and Harriet Bear

Look out for our new smaller Harry Bear or Harriet Bear who may be coming home to spend some time with you, just one photo and a short explanation of the fun you’ve had together is all that is required!!

Staff update

We welcome Sharon Kinder as a permanent member of staff who will be a key worker and be the adult in the Purple group.

Please REMEMBER if you wish to speak to your childs’ keyworker at any time just ask, we are always happy to have a chat or make an appointment with you and don’t forget to log into your child’s tapestry account to see what they have been up to recently! Please add any Wow moments you may share at home.

Packed Lunches

Just a reminder that the children only have a limited time (approx 30 mins) to eat lunch so please send an appropriate sized lunch as sometimes too much choice can make lunchtime a bit confusing. We will always encouurage the children to eat the healthy bits first before any treat.

We are happy for you to send a drink of your choice, please label their bottles as they can become separate from their lunch box, however if you choose not to we will offer water or milk.

How Parents/Carers can help:

The Parent/Carer rota is out so please put your name down to help;your child will love to see you in thesession and you could have lots of fun and help the staff out along the way!

Please remember to check and empty your child’s red tray at the beginning of every session and ensure ALL your child’s personal items and clothing (including wellies) are clearly named.  Please be aware that children can often become distressed if their personal belongings go missing or confused if  another child has the same item.

Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing available for each session ie: coat, hat, gloves, raincoat, sun hat etc as we will be going outside to play.  Sun cream must be applied before each session if weather is hot and if you wish it to be reapplied then please send in your chosen NAMED sun cream.

Please remember your donations of (unprepared) weekly fruit and vegetables to contribute towards snacktime they are much appreciated.
